Fairy fort in Newtown, County Kilkenny: a 26m earthen ring on a west-facing slope, overlooking the wide river valley. Its slight bank and tilted floor suggest people shaped the hill rather than resisted it. Perhaps a household watched water, weather and passage below, while later tongues renamed the same stone-and-soil chamber for its own desires.

On a W-facing slope of a small stream valley, just below the crest and overlooking a wide river valley to the S and W, in rolling grassland. A circular raised platform (max. diam. 26m) enclosed by slight bank (Wth 1.5m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.8m). The ringfort slopes with the slope of the hill, dropping c. 1m across the interior.
