Fairy fort in Morgans North, County Limerick: a 31-by-33m earthen ring beside the Shannon, with two narrow gaps for cattle and nettles hiding loose stones inside. The bank is low enough to stride yet old enough to have become a field edge, human or not.
In low-lying area of pasture and rock outcrop, 50m from shoreline of Shannon estuary. Roughly circular area (31m N-S; 33m E-W) enclosed by earth-and-stone bank (int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.95m). Entirely surrounding bank is field boundary which overlies outer foot of bank in places. Latter is abutted by field boundaries at E, SE and W. Gaps in bank at WSW (Wth 1.3m) and ENE (Wth 1.1m) where cattle access interior. Interior, covered by tall nettles and bracken, has many loose stones scattered over surface.
