Fairy fort in Maulyregan, County Cork: a roughly circular raised area on a flat-topped hillock, truncated by field boundaries to the east and south, enclosed by an earth-and-stone bank about 1.3 m high running west to north-northeast. It stands in pasture like a threshold half-swallowed by fields, the kind of place where people may have set bounds, kept fire, or simply refused to forget the shape of the ground.
