No fort is visible in the pasture now, but a roadway still cuts through the place where the earthwork stood. The land remembers the shape even when the grass has swallowed it.

Located in a slight col on the ridge of an E-W drumlin, with higher ground to the E and W and lower ground to the N and S. A small embanked earthwork (ext. diam. c. 20m) that is truncated by an ENE-WSW roadway at S is depicted on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic lettering as a ‘fort’. No archaeological feature is visible at ground level in pasture. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).
