What is recorded here

Knoppoge North holds a circular earthen ringfort forty-three metres across, built on a rise with unbroken views in every direction. Its thick bank, partly earth and partly stone, still stands six metres wide and nearly two metres high, suggesting people valued visibility and defense there before written records. The fort may have housed a local family, stored grain through winter storms, or marked territorial pride along the old trackway. Its shape remains clear even when its history fades, inviting imagination to fill the silence.

Internal diameter 43m N-S, 43m E-W Situated on a rise, with excellent views in all directions, this circular univallate rath is bounded to the N by a trackway running E-W. The enclosing bank is on average c 6m wide and 1.8m high externally and 1.2m above the interior. To the NE, the bank would appear to be constructed of earth and stone. N to NE the bank is much higher externally than in other parts, rising to 3m due to the trackway running alongside the fort.
