Knocknasawna holds a broad earthen ring on a sunny slope, its grassy interior wide enough for dozens of people to circle before collapsing under the weight of sky. The bank rises barely higher than a kneeling knee, yet it still divides the field into inside and outside, as if human hands had drawn a line the soil refused to erase. Reeds tremble in the centre while the outer ditch has vanished into lush growth, hiding the exact place where entry was intended.

Located towards the top of a SE-facing slope. This is a grass and reed-covered circular area (int. diam. 30.5m E-W; 28m N-S) defined by an round-topped earthen bank (Wth 4.2m; int. H 0.25m; ext. H 0.9m) and hedge, which is surmounted by a field bank S-W. There are traces of an outer fosse visible as a band of lush growth (Wth 2.5m) N-E. The interior slopes down to the SE but the original entrance is not identified. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J.
