What is recorded here

Knocknakilly holds a circular earthen fort with a wide bank and two distinct openings, one facing east and one west-southwest. The interior sits slightly above the surrounding land, creating a small raised chamber visible across the terrain. No human builder is named in the available facts, but the shape suggests deliberate construction rather than natural accumulation. The fort remains unchanged in description, waiting for someone to walk its perimeter and measure what the earth already knows.

This univallate rath consists of a circular area enclosed by an earthen bank c 5m wide at the base. It rises to 1m above the interior and 1.5m above the surrounding land. The interior is at a slightly higher level than the surrounding land and two main openings are evident, one to the E measuring 3.4m wide and one WSW measuring 5.2m wide.
