Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Knockmore (clonderalaw By.)

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Knockmore holds a true earthen ringfort, not a fairy fort, though that misname still cloaks its purpose. The clay bank has stood against rain, plough and forgetting for centuries, shaping the field around it. People may have lived, hidden or worshipped inside its circle before written memory arrived. The land kept the shape long after the hands that made it disappeared.
