Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Knock (islands By.)

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Knock holds a earthen ringfort marked as a fairy fort, giving the ordinary earth a suspicious edge. People may have built the bank to keep out rain, raids or curiosity, while later tongues moved the credit to fairies because the shape still resists explanation. The distinction barely matters when standing beside it: human hands made the ridge, but forgetfulness has finished the work.
