Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Kilmore (clanmaurice By.) stands twenty-five metres across at the top of a gently sloping field in County Kerry. Its northern edge has vanished beneath a fieldbank, yet the surviving earth still marks a boundary between human memory and forgotten life. The loss does not diminish the place; it reminds us that even strong walls surrender to time and change.
Internal diameter 25m E-W This rath is situated at the top of a pastoral field which is gently sloping N. The N sector has been cut by a fieldbank running E-W, and N of the fieldbank the site has been completely levelled. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 351. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 2 August 2013
