Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Killoshulan

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy forts are not fantasy. They are human places misread by later fear. Killoshulan is a small circular enclosure, about twenty-eight metres across, marked by a slight bank and shallow outer ditch. It may have been a dwelling, a boundary marker or a forgotten neighbourhood edge. The fairies entered later, filling the gap left when the human names disappeared.
Identified on an aerial photograph (GSI roll 43, print 35) this is a circular enclosure (diam. c. 28m) defined by traces of a slight bank and shallow outer fosse. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 7 February 2018
