Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Graigacurragh

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

No fairy ever danced in the oval pasture at Graigacurragh, though people wanted to believe it. A human hand cut the steep slope, built a bank across the west and east, and left a shallow dish for life. That much is written in the scarped earth. The rest is invention, which is also the point.
In pasture, on steep S-facing slope. Roughly oval area (27.9m N-S; 23.3m E-W) defined E->W by scarped edge (H 1.55m; Wth 3.5m) running along base of which is concentric field boundary. Earthen bank, depicted on 1923 OS 6-inch map enclosing site W->E, has been levelled, probably when adjacent field boundaries to N were removed. Interior, under pasture, slopes down to E.
