You can still see the shallow circular scar in the Clare pasture, a forgotten room where human hands shaped the earth before memory faded. The south edge has been levelled, perhaps by carts or curiosity, yet the remaining rim holds its quiet shape against the marsh. There is no house left inside, only grass and the suggestion that someone once drew a boundary around their own life.

On a gentle rise in undulating marshy pasture with good views. Hachured on 1916 OS 6-inch map. Listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the SMR (1992) and the RMP (1996). A rath comprising a low circular platform (diam. 28m; H 1-1.2m) defined by a gentle scarp (Wth 4-5m) which has been levelled to the S. The interior is level with no visible features. A fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Gortnaboul, likely dating to the early medieval period, consists of a low circular platform with a diameter of 28 meters. It is associated with local folklore surrounding fairy activity and is listed as an 'Enclosure' in regional archaeological records.
