Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Glenduff

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy forts are not fantasy. They are small earthen rings where people lived, worked and were buried long before maps existed. In Glenduff the ring has been levelled, but the grass still holds its shape: broader, browner, slightly raised. That is not a mistake. That is a body remembering muscle. The fairies are a later story told around a human truth: small places can carry large lives.
In pasture, on gentle NE-facing slope. Monument, depicted as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1923 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled, as has field boundary which abutted it on S side. Area of enclosure now discernable as slightly raised roughly circular area (H c. 0.15m; c. 30m N-S; c. 26m E-W) covered by rougher and browner grass than remainder of field.
