What is recorded here

Fairy forts are often little more than a ridge of soil, but Garranes kept its circle until ploughs and men erased it. The 1842 map still shows a thirty-metre ring on the south-east slope, while the 1904 map reduces it to a bend in a field fence. What looked like a fairy trick may have been an ordinary home, its wall forgotten so quickly it became a joke.
