Fairy fort in Garranereagh, County Cork: a 40-metre earthen ring, 3.4 metres high, with a saucer-shaped interior and a four-metre entrance to the south-east. It sits on a south-facing slope beside a farmyard, not hidden in myth but exposed in pasture, where cattle, road traffic and ordinary life have shared its boundary for generations. The fairies may be fiction; the fort is not.

In pasture, on S-facing slope to N of farmyard. Circular area (40m N-S; 39.5m E-W) defined by earthen bank (H 3.4m). Silage pit immediately outside N bank; roadway skirts bank to E.
