An earthen ringfort in Fintra More, County Clare, is called a fairy fort because people believed the fairies lived there. It is a rath, a rounded fort built of soil, and it still stands on the land. Humans may have lived inside it before the fairy story took over, but the name shows they stopped touching it and left the fort to its new owners.
