What is recorded here

Clearing the dark conifers reveals a circular earthwork about forty metres across, hidden beside the Camoge River and unchanged since people stopped laying stone there. The ring stands alone in green silence, waiting for human feet to measure its curve and remember that ownership belongs to no one now.

In a clearance within a commercial forestry plantation 40m S of townland boundary with Rathmore and 320m N of Camoge River. Enclosure (LI031-128----) lies 200m to NW. Not depicted on historic OSi maps. Identified as a circular enclosure from examination of aerial photograph (BGE 1:10,000 No. 37) of the region associated with the Bord Gáis Curraghliegh West-Limerick gas pipeline. Visible as a circular-shaped area (diam. c. 40m) enclosed by a possible bank on OSi orthophoto taken between 2005-12 and on Google Earth orthoimage dated 14/02/2020.
