Half-hidden in Doonwood, the ringfort still stands thirty-five metres across, its double banks and central ditch marking a boundary older than the trees above it. A wide causeway cuts the southeast edge, inviting entry toward a rectangular hollow that may have descended into darkness. People called it a fairy fort, perhaps because the shape resists ordinary explanation or because the wood itself prefers to keep some chambers closed.

Within Doon Wood, from which the td. derives its name. Overgrown almost circular rath (D 35.5m), in fair condition, defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. Well-defined entrance causeway (Wth 6m) at SE. Within NE sector of interior is a rectangular hollow (L 8.7m), running NNE-SSW, possibly a Man-made underground passage.
