Fairy fort in Dinneens, County Kerry: a circular earthen ringfort, 23 to 24m across, with a broad stone-and-earth bank and a long oblong mound inside that may have been a house. It sits at the corner of a field, partly smoothed away, partly still standing like a room without walls. People may have lived there, buried there, or simply passed around it with their hands full.

Internal diameter 23.3m N-S, 24m E-W This circular univallate rath is situated in the corner of a field and fieldbanks immediately bound this site to the N and E. The enclosing bank, constructed of earth and stone, is c 7m wide and rises to an average of 1.2m above the interior and 1.8m above the external ground level. The SW sector of the enclosing bank has been levelled and manure is now dumped at this point. A very slight trace of an exterior fosse c 2m wide can be noted to the N for 18m. In the NW sector of the interior, which is at a slightly higher level than the surrounding land, is an oblong mound, its long axis running NE-SW; it is 1.8m wide x 9.8m long internally. This could possibly be the remains of a house-site (KE020-027001-). A clump of stones has been dumped in the interior in recent times. The above description is derived from C.
