Fairy fort in Derryvillane, County Cork: a triple-ditched ring about forty metres across, mapped in 1842, 1905 and 1935, now levelled into tillage but still visible as cropmarks, with two curving ditch-lines running east from its edge. Perhaps people lived there, loved there, argued and buried their dead before the fields swallowed it. The fairies may have taken the rest.

In level tillage. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) on 1842, 1905 and 1935 OS 6-inch maps. Levelled; no visible surface trace of site; trivallate circular enclosure visible as cropmark of three fosses in aerial photograph (CASAP). Linear cropmark of fosses forming two slightly curving parallel lines extended E from E side of enclosure.
