What is recorded here

Half a metre of earth and stone still stands at the south-east edge, though thick growth has strangled the rest of the thirty-metre circle. The fort sits on a steep slope where the ground tilts away, forcing whoever built it to fight the hill as much as any enemy. It is easy to imagine people living inside that narrow ring, watching the sky through a hole in the roof of branches and remembering the shape of the bank long after the name was forgotten.

In rough pasture, on NE-facing slope below brow of hillock. Monument, depicted as roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) truncated SE->W by field boundary on 1923 OS 6-inch map, is now covered by dense overgrowth. However, a short stretch of enclosing earth-and-stone bank (int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.5m) was accessed at SSE. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
