What is recorded here

Cooragreenane holds a forty-six metre ring where stone-faced earth still stands beside a cut fosse. People may have lived inside the bank before fairy tales renamed the ruins, yet the slope and scarped edge preserve the shape of that forgotten residence.

In pasture, on NW-facing slope just below top of hill. Circular area (diam. 46m) enclosed by earthen bank (max. int. H 1.7m) E->SSW; scarp (H 1.6m) NW->NNE; external fosse (D 1.35m) SE->SSW with counterscarp bank (H 0.25m). Bank stone-faced internally to height of 1.4m. Scarp topped by stone field boundary. Interior level for c. 7m inside S bank; remainder slopes gently down to NW. Visible as circular enclosure in aerial photograph (GSIAP; W 21).
