Fairy fort in Cooleeny, County Galway: a 28-metre earthen ring on a ridge above pastureland, its stone-and-clay bank still highest at the north. People may have lived there before the fields took it back, or the land may have simply rolled a circle into being and waited for belief. Either way the ridge keeps its shape, holding what it can of the hands that built it.
