Scots pines hold the memory of Cloghmacow, their roots drinking rain from the old ditch while people forget the shape beneath. The fort is not gone, only waiting for eyes that understand soil before stone. What is buried there is not lost, but paused, saving its life for the patience of others.

In pasture, on S-facing slope. Roughly circular area (38m E-W; 35m N-S) defined by earthen bank (int. H 0.45m; ext. H 1.7m) SSW->SSE; scarp elsewhere; external fosse (D 0.6m) to N, E and W. Gap in bank to SW. Bank and fosse heaviy overgrown to E; Scots Pine planted in fosse to W. Man-made underground passage (CO083-062002-) in interior; remains of cultivation ridges in SE quadrant. Field boundary skirts enclosure to NW and NE; ruins of stone cottage to S. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
