Fairy fort in Castletown (dunmore By.) is a well-preserved D-shaped earthen ringfort on a low rise in rolling Galway grassland, measuring 36 metres east-west and 31 metres north-south. Two banks and an intervening fosse still mark its shape, with the inner bank running from north-northeast through south to west and the outer bank surviving from south through west to north. People may have lived there, fenced it, or feared it; the earth keeps its shape regardless of which truth is correct.

On a low rise in rolling grassland. Well-preserved D-shaped rath (E-W 36, N-S 31m) defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The inner bank is present from NNE through S to W; elsewhere a scarp forms the enclosing element. The fosse and outer bank survive from S through W to N.
