Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Castlepark

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Castlepark holds a true ringfort, not a fairy tale, yet local minds still call it a fairy fort because ordinary sense fails before its shape. Earth and stone may have formed a defensible home, a boundary marker or a forgotten shrine, but the name preserves the moment human understanding slipped. The field does not need a warning label; it needs a witness willing to sit with the unknown instead of forcing it into a known box.
The Archaeological Survey of Ireland (ASI) is in the process of providing information on all monuments on The Historic Environment Viewer (HEV).
