Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Cartronmore is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Cartronmore, County Sligo, Ireland. It occupies a slight south-southwest-facing slope in wet pasture and contains a raised circular area eighteen metres across. A low broad bank of earth and stone surrounds the centre, though livestock erosion has removed the bank from the northeast to southwest and obscured the original entrance.
Situated on a slight SSW-facing slope in wet pasture. Slightly raised circular area (diam. 18m) enclosed by a low broad bank of earth and stone (Wth 4.55m; int. H 0.6m). There is no fosse visible at ground level. From NE-SW the bank is absent and the monument is defined by a slight scarped edge (ext. H 0.3m). The original entrance is not recognisable. The site is heavily eroded by livestock in all areas. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 21 April 2011
