What is recorded here

Carn is a forty-nine-metre ringfort where two earthen banks and a deep central ditch still force a person to choose between climbing or wading. The east entrance remains clear, but the west opening may be a later invention because modern ploughing has blurred that much of the outer edge. People called it a fairy fort, perhaps because the double defence and hidden depth made the ordinary field sound like a trap.

Raised circular area (int. diam. 49m) enclosed by two substantial earthen banks with wide, deep intermediate fosse. Outer bank has been levelled from ESE-S-W and has been replaced by a low modern field boundary. Break in bank with accompanying causeway at ESE represents original entrance. Corresponding breaks in the banks with accompanying causeway at NW may represent a second original entrance.
