What is recorded here

Fairy forts are misnamed. They are human ringforts, often farmsteads or refuge places, later covered in fairy legend because they stood empty and strange. Brackloon is one of them: a broken circular bank on open ground, partly erased by fields and time. The fairy part is the story people invented later. The ringfort part is the place itself.

On a rise in undulating grassland overlooking bogland to S. Poorly preserved subcircular rath (N-S 51m, E-W 46m) defined by a bank at SSE and by a scarp from S through W to N; elsewhere the enclosing element is overlain by a field bank.
