What is recorded here

A circular earthen ringfort with a hidden underground passage still stands in Berrings tillage. Its south-east bank rises one metre above the soil, marking a boundary that has resisted ploughs and forgetting. The chamber below suggests the fort was more than a farmstead, perhaps a place for ritual, refuge or stubborn human pride.

In tillage. Hachured, circular enclosure (diam. c. 35m) depicted on 1842 and 1903 OS 6-inch maps. Arc formed by earthen bank (H 1m) survives S->E, skirted externally by field boundary.
