Bengour East contains a roughly circular earthen ringfort with a saucer-shaped interior and a hidden underground passage in the east half. The earth bank stands 2.1m high, encloses 34.1m by 32m, and breaks only at two narrow gaps, while a field fence still circles it ten metres away. People may have lived, hid or tended fields there before the fort became a fairy story, but the passage and bank prove human hands shaped the place.

Roughly circular area (34.1m N-S; 32m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 2.1m), with external fosse. Gap in bank to E and NNW (Wth 3m). Interior saucer-shaped; Man-made underground passage (CO095-03102-) in E half. Field fence runs concentric with bank, SW->NE, at distance of c. 10m.
