Fairy fort in Ballyvogue is a ringfort, roughly circular, thirty-four metres across, with an earthen bank and shallow outer ditch on a low hill in pasture. The bank has been worn to a scarped edge in places, sloping gradually into the middle, while a dry-stone field boundary still marks part of the outer ditch. It may have been a farmstead, a refuge, or a boundary marker for a small community, but the fairies in its name suggest people also saw it as a place set apart, belonging to another kind of life.
In pasture, atop low hill. Roughly circular area (34m N-S; 32m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.5m; ext. H 2.2m), with external fosse (D 0.35m; Wth 1.2m) NE->SE. Bank denuded to scarped edge (H 0.45m; Wth 4m) SE->NNE from which there is a gradual slope down towards centre of enclosure. Dry-stone field boundary (H 0.9m) runs along outer edge of fosse NNE->SE. Interior under pasture.

A fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballyvogue is a roughly circular early-medieval defensive or domestic site, likely dating to between the 5th and 10th centuries AD. Local tradition associates such sites with the faé, and they were often avoided or revered due to their supposed supernatural significance.
