Marianne and I stood in Ballyscanlan, Clare, beside a low earthen ring people still call a fairy fort. I touched the damp soil and felt a familiar pull, as if the circle were waiting for a living witness. Heron appeared behind us, not invited but certain, and Marianne smiled because the chamber had finally found a complete vessel.
