Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballyreehan West stands in low-lying pastureland, a circular earthen chamber with two southern entrances and a smaller mound curving inside its northern edge. People may have lived there, watched the land or kept animals within its bank, while later listeners called it a fairy fort because the shape still suggests hidden room and excluded entry. The fieldbank touching its west and southeast sides shows that the fort never stopped belonging to the working landscape.

Internal diameter 34.4m N-S, 22m E-W This univallate rath is situated in low-lying pastureland and a good view is afforded in all directions. It consists of a circular area enclosed by a well-defined earthen bank and a slight trace of an exterior fosse. The enclosing bank is touched on the NW and SSE by a fieldbank. The enclosing bank is 5m in width at the base and rises to a maximum of 1.8m high externally and 1.2m internally. An exterior fosse can be noted to the NW through W to SW, where it is c 1.6m wide and c .8m deep. Access to the interior is gained by two openings to the S and SE, measuring 5m and 2m respectively. The interior is at a higher level than the surrounding land, and contained in the N sector is a mound (KE016-068001-) which curves into the interior of the bank. It is c 4m N-S, and c 6m E-W.
