What is recorded here

Fairy forts are earthen rings that people once lived in or marked, not proved homes for fairies. This is one of them: a double-circled rath in Ballynascubbig, County Cork, with two banks and several gaps. The name is local folklore layered on a human shape. The gaps and double line suggest a place made to be entered, seen and remembered, not a closed chamber.

In pasture, on NE-facing slope. Circular area (35m N-S; 34m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 1.6m), with shallow external fosse. Gaps in bank to E, S and W. Second earthen bank (H 1.8m) concentric with and 16.5m outside inner bank; gaps to E, SE and NW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
