What is recorded here

Ballymakegoge holds a earthen ringfort, a simple round defence that likely protected homes, herds or pride during the medieval period. People may have built it to keep neighbours, weather or worse at bay, then left it empty when roads or fashions changed. The fairy name suggests later people stopped asking who lived there and began wondering what refused to leave.
