Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballygorteen (Clonbullogue parish) is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Ballygorteen (Clonbullogue parish), County Tipperary, Ireland. It occupies a north-west-facing slope on a hillock in flat pasture. A roughly circular area 35 metres across from north-east to south-west is enclosed by a bank 8.4 metres wide overall and 2.2 metres wide at the top. The south quadrant and opposite hillock have been quarried out, extending into the interior and disturbing the south-west bank.
On a NW-facing slope of hillock in relatively flat pasture. The hill immediately SE of the ringfort has been quarried out. Roughly circular area (diam. 35m NE-SW; no other diams. obtainable) enclosed by a bank (Wth at top 2.2m; overall Wth 8.4m; int. H 1.36m; ext. H 0.65-1.06m). Very disturbed monument. The S quadrant has been quarried out, into the hillock which is also quarried away on the opposite side. Quarrying extends into the interior. There is a depression in the interior of the SW quadrant where a gravel mound appears to have been deposited and subsequently dug into. The bank in the SW sector also disturbed by quarrying. Roughly centrally placed in NE quadrant there is a ring-feeder, the ground is very poached in the area immediately surrounding it. Near the bank in the interior of the N sector there has been burning of domestic refuse, paper, plastic etc. Entrance in NNE sector (Wth 2.2m) used to gain tractor access to interior and give cattle easy access. Bank very overgrown. Interior lightly covered with grass and weeds. External face of E quadrant has excellent stone revetment which does not appear to survive elsewhere, it may be a later feature.
