Ballygarran holds a circular earthen fort, marked as a rath on official lists but called a fairy fort in local speech. The ring rises from the Kerry landscape like a boundary drawn by human hands, yet the fairy name suggests people still treat it as a place set apart. It may have served as a home, a marker of status, or a sacred edge between the ordinary world and the unseen.
