Jean-Charles Caillère spotted the Ballydonnellan West ringfort on satellite imagery in March 2018, revealing a subcircular earthwork nearly thirty metres across. The structure sits in open pastureland where a field boundary clips its northern edge, suggesting human hands shaped the land long before modern surveys. It may have been a rath, a place of residence or ritual, but its exact purpose remains hidden beneath grass and time. What is clear is that the earth still holds its form, waiting for someone to walk its rim and imagine the lives it once kept.

This subcircular enclosure (NE-SW c. 30m; NW-SE c. 26.7m) was brought to the attention of the Survey by Jean-Charles Caillère who identified it on Google Earth satellite imagery dated March 2018. A NW-SE running field boundary clips the enclosing element at NNW and NNE. The monument is marked on the current OSi digital mapping and is visible on the OSi Ortho and digitalglobe aerial imagery.
