What is recorded here

O'Leary recorded a man-made underground passage inside the Ballybricken fort in 1919, but that tunnel and its earth walls have vanished without a trace. The fort may have been a ordinary home, a boundary marker or a forgotten shrine, yet the missing passage suggests people once built downward as well as upward. Its absence does not diminish the place; it keeps the fort alive in memory and imagination.

O'Leary (1919, 38) records 'a lios with a Man-made underground passage' (CO087-06802-) 'of which no traces remain' in this townland. Exact location not known.
