What is recorded here
Aughinish West once held a twenty-five-metre earthen ring, visible on the 1841 map but now erased from the level terrain. The land has taken back what human hands shaped, leaving no ridge, ditch or shadow to mark the boundary. Any life inside that circle has become as vanished as the wall itself.
In level terrain. Monument, depicted as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 25m) on 1841 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled. No trace of monument evident when inspected.
