What is recorded here

A dense green wall now hides the Aghalacka ringfort, though a broad rail line cuts across the place and may have buried part of it. People walked this green basin long before the first train shook it, and the fairies kept the fort when human memory thinned. The railway did not build the fort, but it changed the shape of the story and may have taken some of the fort with it.

In densely overgrown marshy depression, immediately E of railway embankment. Monument, depicted as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 25m) on 1841 OS 6-inch map, is no longer apparent. It may be partially overlain by railway embankment. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
