Fairlie, Castle Park Drive, Croftdene

Garage (20th Century)

What is recorded here

Croftdene still smells of hot oil and salt air. A garage stood at Castle Park Drive, building or breaking the steel horses that carried people past Fairlie. Men wiped grease from their hands and joked about the weather while engines coughed behind bare walls. The bay door may have rattled open for a century of journeys, though no plaque remains to mark the noise.
