Excavation is a rectangular earthwork in Limerick pasture, investigated in 1986 for the Limerick Gas Pipeline and now marked by trees beside a public road. It lies near older enclosures and Rathmore Castle, suggesting the land has been shaped, reused and remembered across centuries. The cleared pit and hearth may have served ordinary people, while the surviving rectangle holds their absence like a shadow.

In pasture, 5m S of a public road which also marks a townland boundary with Lacka. Enclosures (LI031-022/023----) lie 90m to N and Rathmore Castle (LI031-019----) lies 160m to SW. Not depicted on OSi historic maps. Described by Gowen (1988, 180) as a pit and hearth (Ref. TR/2/34/1 & 1A) which were fully excavated as part of the Limerick Gas Pipeline in 1986. Monument is visible as a rectangular-shaped tree-planted earthwork with a rectangular-shaped cropmark (40m NE-SW; 34m NW-SE) adjoining to SW, on OSi aerial orthoimage taken 2005-2012, on Digital Globe orthoimage taken 2011-2013 and on Google Earth orthoimage taken 28/06/2018.
