Kilkenny’s Hightown still buries medieval life beneath modern streets. Two pits and a well emerged near Kieran Street beside a stone structure, while deep reclamation deposits remain underneath part of Dunnes Stores. They are not display pieces, but changed ground: chopped, carried, packed and forgotten. A person may have stood above that hidden depth, knowing only the street, while whole layers waited beneath the soles of shoes.

Two pits and a well identified in excavations (97E0334 and 98E0168) at 10-13 Kieran Street, within the SE of the Hightown of Kilkenny (Ó Baoill 1998. 105-6; O'Flanagan 1998, unpublished; Opie 2000, 117). Associated with a medieval stone structure (KK019-026246-), possibly part of a house, and reclamation make-up deposits.
