One chamber is complete, three are cut short, and none can be dated because no human object emerged to witness the digging. The pits sit southwest of Rock Abbey in Glanworth, ranging from a shallow circular hollow to a deeper linear trench, small enough for a child to vanish into yet large enough to swallow a cartwheel. They may have marked a boundary, collected rainwater, or hidden something whose name has left the soil. The unfinished shape denies certainty, but the completed chamber proves the ground was entered deliberately rather than damaged accidentally.

Within the historic town (CO027-042----) of Glanworth, to the SW of 'Rock Abbey' (CO027-040----). Four pits were excavated in advance of a housing development in Boherash townland in 2004. All four pits were situated in trench 1. Only one of the pits was completely excavated, the three other pits were only partially excavated. The pits ranged in diameter from 0.6 to 1.34m and in depth from 0.19 to 0.83m and varied in shape from circular to linear. Because of the lack of datable finds, these pits cannot be assigned to either the medieval or post-medieval phases at the site.
