What is recorded here

Five shallow circular pits sit buried in Boherash townland, waiting for houses to be built above them. They range from a hand-span to nearly two metres across and hold no dates, no bones, no coins. Whoever dug them in some forgotten century left no trace behind. The earth swallowed their purpose whole.

Within the historic town (CO027-042----) of Glanworth, to the SW of 'Rock Abbey' (CO027-040----). Five undated pits were excavated in advance of a housing development in Boherash townland in 2004. Two of the pits were only partially excavated. The pits were situated in trench 3 and were mainly circular in plan. The pits ranged in diameter from 0.18 to 1.84m and in depth from 0.12 to 0.47m.
