What is recorded here

Gateway, extant 1871, on a symmetrical plan including pointed-arched or pointed segmental-headed opening with limestone ashlar voussoirs having chamfered reveals framing wrought iron double gates. Lane fronted at entrance to grounds of Evans' Asylum.
A gateway forming part of a self-contained group alongside an adjacent gate lodge (see 12000215) with the resulting ensemble making a pleasing visual statement in the close-like Barrack Lane at the entrance on to the grounds of the Evans' Asylum complex.

This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
