This slate commemorative plaque records: Railway photographer, Pastor to railwaymen, lover of life and railways. This plaque was erected to commemorate the Right Reverend Eric Treacy MBE LLD Lord Bishop of Wakefield 1968-1976 who died on Appleby Station 13 May 1978
Dr Eric Treacy MBE was a prominent railway photographer and served as the Bishop of Wakefield from 1968 to 1976, known for his pastoral care for railway workers and his deep affection for railways.
